Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa, known as Abu Mohammad al-Julani, is a Syrian politician and former rebel commander. He currently holds the position of president of Syria since 2025. Prior to this, he served as the emir of Al-Nusra Front and Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). Al-Sharaa was also the de facto leader of Syria from December 2024 until his appointment as president in January 2025.
