Edward John Markey is an American politician currently serving as the junior United States Senator from Massachusetts, a position he has held since 2013. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Prior to his Senate service, he represented Massachusetts's 7th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives for 20 terms, from 1976 to 2013. Markey also served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1973 to 1976.
