Irena Szewińska was a Polish sprinter and one of the world's most accomplished track athletes for nearly two decades. She competed in multiple events and won a total of seven Olympic medals, including three golds. She remains the only athlete in history, male or female, to have held the world record in the 100m, 200m, and 400m events. Szewińska was a four-time Polish Sports Personality of the Year and was awarded Poland's highest decoration, the Order of the White Eagle, in 2016.
