Joseph Nyuma Boakai is a Liberian politician who currently serves as the 26th president of Liberia, having assumed office in 2024. Prior to this, he served as the 29th vice president of Liberia from 2006 to 2018, under President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. He also held the position of Minister of Agriculture from 1983 to 1985. Boakai previously ran for president in 2017, losing to George Weah, but defeated Weah in the 2023 election.
