She is the current president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), a groundbreaking achievement as the first woman, Zimbabwean, and African to hold the office. Before her role at the IOC, she served in the Cabinet of Zimbabwe as the Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, and later as the Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture. As a swimmer, she is the most decorated Olympian from Africa.
