Kurmanbek Bakiyev is a Kyrgyzstani politician who served as the second president of Kyrgyzstan from 2005 until he was ousted from office in 2010. He came to power following the Tulip Revolution, which overthrew President Askar Akayev. Bakiyev's presidency was marred by accusations of corruption, authoritarianism, and human rights abuses. He was overthrown in the Kyrgyz Revolution of 2010 and subsequently fled the country.
