Max Cavalera, born Massimiliano Antonio Cavalera in Brazil in 1969, is a highly influential musician in the heavy metal scene. He co-founded the seminal thrash metal band Sepultura with his brother Igor Cavalera in 1984, where he served as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for many years. After leaving Sepultura in 1997, Max went on to form the successful groove metal band Soulfly.
