Mazie Keiko Hirono is an American lawyer and politician currently serving as the junior United States senator from Hawaii since 2013. As a member of the Democratic Party, Hirono has had a distinguished career in public service. Before her election to the Senate, she represented Hawaii's 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2013. She has also served in the Hawaii House of Representatives and as Hawaii's lieutenant governor, making her a prominent figure in Hawaiian politics.
