Ricardo Froilán Lagos Escobar is a Chilean lawyer, economist, and social-democratic politician who served as president of Chile from 2000 to 2006. A prominent opponent of the Pinochet dictatorship, he famously denounced Augusto Pinochet on live television in 1988. Before becoming president, he served as Minister of Education and Minister of Public Works. As president, he was the third from the center-left Coalition of Parties for Democracy.
