Vladimir Kara-Murza is a Russian-British political activist, journalist, author, filmmaker, and former political prisoner. He is known for his advocacy for democracy and human rights in Russia, often in opposition to Vladimir Putin's government. A protégé of Boris Nemtsov, Kara-Murza is the vice-chairman of Open Russia, an NGO founded by Mikhail Khodorkovsky. He has also directed documentaries and served as a Senior Fellow at the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights. He was awarded the Civil Courage Prize in 2018 for his activism.
