Yitzhak Shamir was an Israeli politician who served as the seventh Prime Minister of Israel. He served two terms, from 1983 to 1984 and from 1986 to 1992. Before the establishment of the State of Israel, Shamir was a leader of the Zionist paramilitary group Lehi, also known as the Stern Gang. Shamir was known for his staunch defense of Israel's security and his commitment to the expansion of settlements in the West Bank.
