Aga Khan IV, also known as Prince Shah Karim al-Hussaini, is the 49th Imam of Nizari Isma'ili Shia Islam. He assumed the imamate in 1957 at the age of 20, succeeding his grandfather, Aga Khan III. He is referred to by his followers as Mawlānā Hazar Imam.
