Assimi Goïta is a Malian army general currently ruling Mali since 2021. He initially served as the interim vice president under Interim President Bah Ndaw from 2020 to 2021. Following this, he became the interim president until 2025, and has officially been the sixth president of Mali since 2025. Additionally, he has held the position of president of the Confederation of Sahel States since 2024, making him a central figure in Malian and regional politics.
