Hans Blix is a Swedish diplomat and politician known for his extensive work in international affairs. He served as Sweden's Minister for Foreign Affairs and later became the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). As head of the IAEA, he was the first Western representative to inspect the Chernobyl disaster. Blix also led the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC), which searched for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq prior to the 2003 invasion.
