José Maria Pereira Neves is a Cape Verdean politician who is the current President of Cape Verde. Before assuming the presidency, he served as the Prime Minister of Cape Verde from 2001 to 2016. Neves is a member of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV). He won the 2021 presidential election with 51.7% of the votes.
