Kang Kek Iew, also known as Comrade Duch, was a Cambodian convicted war criminal and a member of the Khmer Rouge movement. He served as the Chairman of Tuol Sleng (S-21) prison camp during the Khmer Rouge regime. As head of the Santebal, Duch oversaw the interrogation, torture, and execution of thousands of individuals. He was convicted for the deaths of at least 12,272 people, with estimates suggesting that up to 14,000 may have died under his oversight.
